Underground or Local heroes?

For my first blog, I've chosen to share a condensed version of my interview with
local punk/ska band 'The Underground Heroes", from my hometown, Sheppey!

Undergound heroes - Joe Dollimore (drummer), Aaron Dollimore (Lead vocalist), Jak Roberts (Base) and George Penfold (Guitar).

We meet up at ‘Layzells bar’ in Minster, Sheppey, and go from there. After talking for ten minutes about what I’ve been up to and the usual ‘how have you been?’ talk, I get into my first thought. I wanted to know how two brothers from a pretty distant island managed to form a ‘promising’ indie/ska band with two boys from Chatham? Joe was first up, “Meeting came about when we were all about 16 and 17 - in a place called ‘Tap n’ Tin’ (an indie club in Chatham)”.

How did you come to being found out i asked? Joe jumped to comment, “Well, after playing regularly at ‘Tap n’ Tin’, we had a man called Rob Wise from a record company spot us, and straight away he wanted to interview us - apparently it was set up by the owner of the club, and he’d already gave him a copy of our demo”.

Now you all went on too tour in Ibiza, how was that? I asked. Aaron explained, "It was most definitely the best month of our lives, what more could you want, live music and sunshine".

I wanted to come to a close on the interview as I only had a short amount of time, which was possibly waisted on catch up with Joe. I wanted to lastly know what they want and hope for in the future, as well as there plans They all had a little something to say, so it’s better that I just sum it all up. Currently, they’re recording a full album alongside their record companies and their producers, but date wise they seem comprehensively unsure.

I say my goodbyes, shake they’re hands and say bye. “Get in touch and come watch us in Chatham”, Joe says. I oblige.
